Diversity

You know I don’t often go on a political rant. This is one of those times. I am so sick of everyone talking about diversity education. Especially in our schools. For one thing kids aren’t born with prejudices. It’s taught to them. Some will argue that diversity education needs to be there to battle what kids learn at home but I don’t think that’s the case 90% of the time.

Here’s my take on it. You take a kid with no sense of a difference in skin color and start teaching them that they need to treat people different because of their skin color, religion, or lifestyle you just taught them that these are all separate people. They learn that we’re not talking about Americans they need to see people as black, white, red, Asian, rich, poor, gay, straight, and what ever else they can come up with. These are lessons that really don’t need to be taught. Are you really telling me that a child of any age can’t tell the difference in someones skin color. I think they notice the difference just fine without being told that they are a different set of people. Let’s face it teaching diversity is teaching segregation.

Our children should be taught that things like skin color, or religion, or whatever doesn’t matter. We’re all Americans and that is the only thing that matters. After all it was the late Dr. King that called for people to judge on a persons character not the color of their skin. Now we walk on egg shells so we don’t offend anyone that looks different than us instead of seeing a man for who he is and what kind of person he is.

Lets start teaching our children to see people the way GOD sees them. Let them know its the things you do, your honor, and how you treat people that makes the man…not the color of his skin, his bank account, or sexual orientation. There are no separate groups we are simply Americans.
